Qualifications:            Minimum two year post secondary diploma in related field (Social Work, Child and Youth care, Psychology, Social or Human services).

Salary:                          $18 per hour.

Hours:                         Temporary Contract:   July 14th – December 22nd, 2021

Start Date:                  July 14th (or sooner if available)

FUNCTION:

The Volunteer Coordinator will provide volunteer management in accordance with the National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada s/he/they/them will be responsible for recruitment and screening of volunteer mentors as well as supporting virtual mentoring match connections.

The Volunteer Coordinator will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the Agency and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinates and carries our volunteer intake, screening, assessment of eligible volunteers and complete all required National Standards prior to volunteer acceptance.
    • Liaise with mentors in process regarding their application status and maintain accurate volunteer program statistics.
    • Maintain all case notes/documentations in accordance with National Standards.
    • Liaise with Mentoring Coordinator(s) to determine optimal matches for Mentee and Mentor.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in Agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policy.
    • Remains aware of federal and provincial privacy legislation and the Agency’s privacy policies and practices.
    • Attends team/staff meetings.
    • Provide regular reports to Executive Director, or special reports as requested.
    • Supports goals as outlined in the Marketing and Recruitment annual strategy plan.
    • Build relationships with community partners within the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cowichan Valley Service area to assist with program volunteer recruitment.
    • Support virtual connections with matches, assist with set up of online match meetings.
    • Develop online training tools and resources for mentors to support digital connections.
    • Provide ongoing technical support for virtual matches.
    • Work with agency team to further develop and increase online virtual connections between mentor and mentee.
    • Other related duties.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two year post secondary diploma in related field (Social Work, Child and Youth care, Psychology, Social or Human services).
  • The agency is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children and youth in our community and understands and values of a team approach.
  • Strong computer skills, can work with multifaced interfaces, and attention to data entry detail.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages, cultural backgrounds and diverse populations.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Provide a clear police check included vulnerable sectors.
  • Has access to a vehicle with a valid DL.
  • Ability to work flexible hours if required (some evening work).
