Qualifications:            Two year post-secondary diploma or degree in relevant field (Social or Human services, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Family Studies)

Start Date:                    August 29th, 2022

Contract:                      Temporary Contract 35 hours per week until June 16, 2023

Salary:                           $20-23 per hour based on experience

 

FUNCTION:

The incumbent will provide group facilitation to self-identifying females in accordance with the National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. The facilitator will be responsible for delivering group programs through in person and virtual formats.

Go Us is a curriculum-based group mentoring program for self-identifying females between the ages of 11-14. The program supports and fosters physical activity, healthy eating, self-esteem and social skills. The overarching goals reflects BBBSCV’s mandate to help youth reach their full potential while addressing specific pressures that negatively impact youth.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Facilitate Group programs in person and online (Zoom)
    • Liaise with partnership schools regarding program referrals
    • Manage program intake
    • Collect program data, conduct evaluations
    • Support program modification
    • Collect and deliver program supplies to program participants
    • Assist with program recruitment and communications
    • Provide regular reports to Executive Director, or special reports as requested
    • Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency privacy and confidentiality policy
    • Perform administrative functions as required to manage caseload
    • Liaise with schools, other youth service agencies, other community groups, clubs or the public in general as required
    • Remain aware of federal and provincial privacy legislation and the agency’s privacy policies and practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

In accordance with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada’s National Standards, all Program Facilitators must:

‘Have a two year post-secondary diploma in a related field (e.g. education, social or human services, child and youth work, family studies etc.).’

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Previous group facilitation and co-facilitation experience an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Sound computer skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Access to a vehicle
